    My Books

Finding Faith: 10 Things I Learned During Tribulation (2020)

We have all been there before…broken, alone, and wondering why God could allow terrible things to happen in our lives. If the hurt and pain you have experienced in life has led you to question God and decreased your faith in Him, this book is for you. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior as a young child but the trials of a failed marriage, depression, and family illness caused my faith in God to wane. This book is my personal testament to how God used suffering in my life and the lives of those who loved me the most to restore my faith in Him. As a licensed professional counselor, I understand the psychological implications of grief, anxiety, trauma, depression, and addiction. Through this book I share individual and clinical insights into how you can find faith despite the pain you are experiencing. Each chapter features questions designed to be used in an individual or group setting to promote introspection and personal growth. I also share 10 things I learned during my own trials that have strengthened my daily walk with Jesus Christ. It is my prayer that this book be used as a tool to help you and those you love find faith and healing in Him.

The Recovery Journal: Sexual Recovery Growth Index (2023)

****NOTE: This book is a text written specifically for our clinician-led group and is not for self-study****

Boundaries, accountability, spirituality, meetings, and recovery psycho-education are all important in your recovery journey. However, understanding and processing the why of acting out/acting in behavior after developing boundaries, accountability, spirituality, attending meetings, and embracing recovery psycho-education is often where significant healing can begin. The Recovery Journal: Sexual Recovery Growth Index is the bridge in that process, and it has been developed from countless hours of providing individual and group therapy to men, women, and their partners struggling with sexual addiction and intimacy anorexia. Over the years, we have had the pleasure of watching countless individuals and families find healing from sexual acting out/acting in behaviors. Treating such circumstances is complex and requires trained clinicians who understand the individual intricacies of treatment. Feedback from clients who have completed other self-help studies, programs, etc. has taught us that one cannot take a one-size-fits-all approach to recovery. What works for one individual may not work for another. Thus, we focus on facilitating a recovery program that integrates material from multiple pioneers in the sexual recovery community with our own therapeutic model. Like Bill and Bob with Alcoholics Anonymous, we are seeking to be visionaries in the treatment of sexual acting out/acting in issues that have become an epidemic in modern society. In a world where anyone can produce information about addiction via websites, books, recovery programs, podcasts, etc., it is just as easy to get lost in the tsunami of recovery knowledge (both good and bad) as it is to get lost in the tsunami of acting out/acting in. As a client, the last thing you want to be struggling with while working your recovery is over-stimulation from too much recovery material. Such an approach can possibly cause recovery burnout and discourage an individual from getting the most out of their recovery journey. This issue led us to develop a recovery tool in The Recovery Journal: Sexual Recovery Growth Index to not only bridge the gap between a multitude of recovery theories, but also provide a client with therapeutic metric data, called the Recovery Growth Index (RGI), to enhance individual session treatment planning and track therapeutic progress for client’s working with Jason Hallman or Reid Wood for SA/IA treatment.

The Recovery Journal: Partner’s Recovery Growth Index (2024)

Recovery for someone with acting-out/acting-in behavior is hard, but recovery for the partner of an addict can sometimes feel impossible. For the partner, recovery consists of overcoming the betrayal of the addict’s secrecy regarding behavior he or she couldn’t control and the traumatic impact this reality has on his or her emotional well-being and identity. In a world where anyone can produce information about addiction via websites, books, recovery programs, podcasts, etc., it is just as easy to get lost in the tsunami of recovery knowledge (both good and bad) as it is to get lost in the emotional tsunami of your partner’s acting out/acting in behavior. As a client, the last thing you want to be struggling with while working your emotional recovery from disclosure of your partner’s acting-out/acting-in behavior is over-stimulation from too much recovery material. Such an approach can possibly cause recovery burnout and discourage an individual from getting the most out of their recovery journey. This issue led us to develop a recovery tool in The Recovery Journal: Partners Recovery Growth Index to not only bridge the gap between a multitude of recovery theories, but also provide a client with therapeutic metric data, called the Partner Recovery Growth Index (PRGI), to enhance individual session treatment planning and track therapeutic progress. This book was written to be processed in individual and group therapeutic settings, and it addresses the trauma, boundaries, anger, grief, and addictive system components for partners of individuals struggling with sexual acting out and/or acting in behavior.

These texts are an exclusive component to our multi-tiered approach to recovery treatment. Having experienced my own emotional traumas in the journey of life, I can empathize with individuals seeking purpose in the midst of life’s challenges. You can read about my story in the book, Finding Faith: 10 Things I Learned During Tribulation. I discuss my Christian faith, skepticism, grief, trauma, and offer clinical insights via questions at the end of each chapter.
